Imagine an Educational institution growing without the collective growth of its staff, in both professional and interpersonal areas. It is just like a flight on Autopilot under turbulence, waiting for the disaster to happen. An Institute’s growth can be ascertained with spreadsheet data analysis based on revenue and market share, however, the true growth will always lie within the limits of the staff welfare and developmental programs.
Each staff of any institute is a small shareholder contributing to its overall growth, needless to say, the most important stakeholder. Apart from the financial benefits, an institute should always look for ways to create an amicable environment within the campus, where teamwork, synergy, and most importantly acknowledgment for the good work prevails. Every staff created is an asset creation for the institute, hence, stressing on development workshops, welfare schemes, medical facilities, food facility, transport on a continuous basis can ascertain collective value addition. Every new skill learned and acquired by the staff ultimately boils down to the students.
Continuous training and development programs should become a part of the annual activity calendar of the school. Apart from the remuneration/salary, being the motivating factor, it’s the development of the inherent skills which goes a long way in shaping the bond between the employer and employee. What skills, knowledge, information, techniques, ideas and coherent bond the staff is gaining will ascertain the length of the association with the organization. The focus should be to lessen the monotonous burden of classroom management and teaching and more on creating ways and taking time out towards training and development programs. Every school should have a mandatory training and development cell, which should continuously focus on the needs and create ways to fulfill those. It is needless to say that children learn faster by seeing and watching us, hence creating an environment where children can see things we want them to see has to be developed within and not just taught.
Online learning materials, peer training sessions, teacher exchange programs, certification course etc. should be given much emphasis in today’s time. Let’s hope to create a dynamic and conscious learning environment for the 21st century learners.
